YES, YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Local Member of Parliament Mr Tony Piccolo with (from left) student Renee Chamberlain, teacher Tunya Greenhalgh, and student Alex Prior.

Students who belong to the Gawler and District College Interact Club are undertaking a “can drive” this month to support the important work undertaken by Foodbank.

The “can drive” seeks to collect as many food cans and non-perishable food as possible, which will then be delivered to families in need over Christmas through the Food Bank organisation.

Local Member of Parliament, Mr Tony Piccolo is lending his support to the can drive and is happy to receive donations of canned non-perishable food at his electorate office.

Mr Piccolo said it was great to see young people working together for the benefit of the community, and in particular, helping families doing it tough.

Interact is a sub-branch of Rotary for 12-18-year old’s and students have built a group over the past few years at Gawler and District College. The Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Gawler Light.

Teacher Tunya Greenhalgh, who supervises the group, said members in the club learn leadership skills and develop other skills about speaking and presenting in front of groups of people.

“The group is made of a number year levels across Gawler and District College and it is fantastic to see that they all interact with each other,” said Ms Greenhalgh.

Group founder and president, Ms Renee Chamberlain the whole group has been participating and working together to make this can drive as successful as it can possibly be.

Cans of food can be left at Mr Piccolo’s electorate office in Murray Street, the offices of local legal firm, Rudall & Rudall or at the College on Barnet Road Evanston by Wednesday 9th December.
