The announcement of the zone for the new northern super school at Angle Vale raises more questions than answers, according to Local Member of Parliament, Mr Tony Piccolo.
Mr Piccolo said his major concern was what impact would the new zones have on families in the region.“Will the new zones split families up?“
“What transport will be made available to support families in the region?”
“Will changes in transport routes have a negative impact on nearby schools, including the larger Mark Oliphant and Gawler and District Colleges?”
Mr Piccolo said he was not aware of any consultation taking place with the community.
“This decision seems to mirror the decision the Marshall Liberal Government made with the new Adelaide CBD high school, where the zones were changed unilaterally and arbitrarily without any community involvement.”
“I hope the governing councils of affected schools were consulted, if not, the Marshall Liberal Government are treating them with contempt.”
“You would think the Government would consult with local Members of Parliament, but both the Member for Taylor, Jon Gee and myself have not been consulted.”
“The zone announcement appears to be a final decision rather than a draft inviting community participation.”
“This decision appears to lack transparency and based on an announce and defend philosophy.”
