A disability employment seminar will be held this coming Monday (3rd December) to Mark the 2018 International Day of People with Disability.The seminar will assist people living with disability or their families or carers gain a better understanding of the training and employment options and opportunities available direct from disability employment service providers.Local Member of Parliament, Mr Tony Piccolo who said that in many cases people living with disability are performing work below their capabilities, is hosting the seminar.“People living with disability have a right to live a dignified life and be treated with dignity and that includes being able to undertake work which is meaningful to them.”“People living with disability have a range of abilities and there is the right job for them in our community.“We need employers to keep an open mind when it comes to employing people living with disability.”The disability employment service providers at the seminar will be able to provide valuable information about the various training and employment opportunities available to people living with disability.“Additional training opportunities exist to help people living with disability to gain the skills required to compete on the open employment Market.”Mr Piccolo said that Feros Care who work on behalf of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will provide an overview of the employment elements of the NDIS and how various programs are designed to assist people living with disability enter the workforce.“Enabling people living with disability find meaningful work is about developing important life skills, gaining independence, new opportunities for social interaction and just simply, living a dignified life.” The exhibition which will have a number of service providers and advocacy groups from both the not for profit and for profit sectors will be held from 6:00 pm till 7:30 pm , on Monday 3rd December at Café Nova, 19 Murray Street, Gawler.Enquires should be directed to Tony Piccolo on 85 222 878 or via email at light@parliament.sa.gov.au
