The new Malinauskas Labor Government will provide an express bus service for local veterans to attend ANZAC Day events in the city.

In consultation with the Gawler Sub-branch of the Gawler RSL, an express bus service will leave the Gawler Railway Station at 8:10 am on ANZAC Day and drop off passengers in the city at various locations.

The special bus service was negotiated by local Member of Parliament, Mr Tony Piccolo.

Mr Piccolo said with the return of the ANZAC DAY march in the city this year, it was important to provide local veterans with a alternative transport service since the trains are still not operating.

“The Gawler RSL have advised that they anticipate up 40 local veterans will use the special express bus service to the city on the day,” said Mr Piccolo.

“The Gawler RSL said normal bus services will suffice for the return trip as veterans will return at different times during the day and night.”

Mr Piccolo said the need for a special service was brought to his attention by a local veteran and following a request to the Department of Transport, the additional service was approved.

“Both Department and Government officers were very empathetic towards the needs of our veterans”

“In line with the new Labor Government’s policy the service will be free to all users.”
