The landowners of Hillier, Kudla and Evanston South have joined forces to create a new vision for the southern rural areas of the Gawler council.

There was a significant turn out of residents to learn about the future of the Kudla and Hillier region at a community event held on on Sunday 22 January 2017.

The Gawler Land Owners Group established by a hard working and committed group of local landowners, co-ordinated the meeting at the Gawler Sport & Community Centre. The steering committee appointed Gerard Coutts & Associates who facilitated the event after having assisted similar groups at Two Wells Road, Buchfelde and Coventry Road, Evanston Gardens, with reMarkable results.

Mr Coutts said the outstanding effort of the group's steering committee, has seen the adoption of a working structure that now requires the support of the local landowners. “On Sunday 22 January there was a healthy level of discussion around that very point that individual local land owners, with the support of local government can both benefit from 'working closely together', “ Mr Coutts said.

The meeting concluded with discussion on the following issues:A 'combined voice' rather than working in isolation has benefits; and,The objective is to work together to establish a master plan.

The message that was clearly adopted by those who attended is that the formation of an effective Land Owners Group is a “win-win” for all parties.Member for Light, Mr Tony Piccolo attended the event and said he felt the group were on the right course with respect to the process they were adopting.

“While the process may take some time to complete, it is the resident’s best opportunity to influence the local Council and State Government.

”Mr Piccolo said he would be happy to support the steering committee through the process.Further information about the goals and activities of the Group can be obtained by sending an email to gawlangroup@yahoo.com
