More Gawler businesses and start-ups will be able to access ultra-high-speed internet, as a result of Gawler Council’s Business InNovation Hub (Hub) being added to the State Government’s $7.6 million GigCity fibre network.
Small and medium sized businesses and start-ups located within the Hub will be connected to high-speed internet that is up to 100-times faster than the national average.
Local Member of Parlianment, Mr Tony Piccolo said jobs are the State Labor Government’s number one priority.

“The GigCity precincts will be able to offer affordable gigabit pricing plans starting from $49.90 per month,” he said.
The Hub will provide business incubator services for entrepreneurs, hot desking, networking and video conferencing facilities, meeting rooms, business coaching, training and education facilities, admin support suite with photocopy and printer stations, lounge area, home office, gaming area and concierge services.
Mr Piccolo said the Council are proposing that the Hub will be occupied by businesses that collaborate with each other and utilise digital solutions to work sMarter and grow.
“Hub activities will have a business growth focus with members committing to a digital awareness and improvement program,” Mr Piccolo said.
“The Hub will be a nexus of economic activity for the region and add value to the economic sustainability of our community,” he said. The Hub will open upon the completion of the Gawler Civic Centre redevelopment and will be operated by Inabox Group via a management agreement with Council.
Hub Members will have access to business mentoring and support initiatives tailored to their unique needs.
The South Australian Broadband Research and Education Network (SABRENet) runs along High Street, directly behind the Gawler Civic Centre complex.
Mr Piccolo said this investment by the State Government into improving access to high-speed internet would improve the prospects of local inNovative businesses transforming their ideas into globally competitive businesses by giving them mentorship, funding, resources, knowledge and access to business networks.
“The GigCity connection lifts the Business InNovation Hub to a global level, and without it, it would be left to the vagaries of the NBN,” he said.
