The profound impact Foundation Barossa has on the local community was honoured and celebrated during their annual Awards Night last week.
Scholarship recipients, sponsors and community leaders gathered at the newly renovated Tanunda Recreation Park Clubroom on the 21st May as Youth Ambassadors, Community Grants, Scholarships and a Traineeship were all presented.
Among the guests was Tony Piccolo MP, who presented the Community Grants to Centacare Catholic Community Service, Light Pass Primary School, Tanunda Primary School & Disability Unit and Kapunda High School for their respective projects.
During the Awards, Mr Piccolo spoke on the importance of education and ensuring every individual gets “a fair go” in life.
"Education is the great equaliser,” said Mr Piccolo.
“No matter where you come from or what challenges you’ve faced, access to learning and development opens doors that would otherwise remain shut.
“We must never let circumstances dictate a person's potential—we must provide the means to let them rise."
“That’s why events like tonight are so important—celebrating success and recognising the spirit of giving, the belief that no one should be left behind.
“A fair go means ensuring that every young person, regardless of background, has access to opportunities that allow them to thrive.”
2025 Barossa Vintage Festival Young Ambassador Amber Perry shared her personal journey of overcoming challenges through support provided by Foundation Barossa.
Community Foundations Australia Chief Executive Officer Ian Bird reflected on how Foundation Barossa is leading the way in South Australia as one of the first community foundations and how the philanthropy charity structure is part of a growing global movement.
Foundation Barossa Chair Amy Heinicke took the opportunity to unveil the organisation’s refreshed branding, symbolising a bold commitment to growing its funding pool to $20 million, which will enable annual contributions between $800,000 and $1 million back into the Barossa community.
“While we have a new look, our purpose remains unchanged, to make a difference in our community where it’s needed most,” said Chair Heinicke.
“Our Awards Night is the most important night on the calendar for us, as it brings together scholars, grant recipients and supporters to honour the extraordinary contributions to the Barossa community.”
