Two local small businesses based at the Stretton Centre will join 33 other small businesses and start-ups in Adelaide’s north to share in nearly $1.6 million of grant funding through the State Government’s Small Business Development Fund.

Sally Ryan, the manager for Pathways to Recovery, a disability and mental health support service in Munno Para, will receive $12,770 in grant funding.

Member for Light Tony Piccolo said Pathways to Recoveryis an NDIS Registered provider of disability and mental health supports in the northern suburbs of Adelaide, Light and Barossa areas.

Ms Ryan said the program involves working with families, youth and adults to promote health, wellbeing and the creation of a meaningful life through a combination of supports.

“The supports provide opportunities for independence and skill development, but also assistance in things people may be challenged to complete on their own,” said Ms Ryan.

Mr Piccolo said the Small Business Development Fund grant will be used in the creation of their first share-house, which will support their Developing Independence program.

The program is designed for people who have never lived on their own before, to learn those skills in a 24/7 supported environment.

The other successful applicant, Naveesh Sharma is the founder of Solution for Construction, a start-up for project management services for building and construction operators.

Receiving $8,180 in funding, Solution for Construction (SFC) provides targeted services and support in the areas of Residential Construction/Extension, Commercial Construction, Civil Construction, and Mining Construction.

Mr Sharma said SFC provides sub-contractors, builders and those looking to build their own home or investment property with the opportunity to increase efficiency, reduce costs and risk, and enhance the capabilities of a project beyond its construction.

“SFC has a focus on making the life of construction contractors and builders easier with management of challenging paperwork from tendering until handover, and liaising with principal contractor and sub-contractor to ensure all parties’ requirements are met,” said Mr Sharma.

The funding will help in the creation of the start-up, including office equipment and software, and Marketing.

Mr Piccolo said to date, the Small Business Development Fund has distributed over $4.8 million worth of grants to small businesses and start-ups.

The Small Business Development Fund is available exclusively to small businesses and start-ups in the Port Enfield, Salisbury and Playford council areas by the State Government to drive economic growth in the local and surrounding areas.
