Local Gawler athlete, Holly Taylor recently competed in the Special Olympics Trans-Tasman Tournament held in New Zealand.

A well rounded sportsperson, Ms Taylor competed in 4 events modified javelin, softball throw, 50-metre sprint and the 4 x 100-metre relay.

Ms Taylor has been involved with the Special Olympics for three years said that her favourite events were the running events. In July of this year Ms Taylor won silver at the Victorian Games in tenpin bowling.

“I love being involved with the Special Olympics, I have made many friends through my involvement, said Ms Taylor.

Ms Taylor began training 12 months ago for the Tournament and this will be her first competition in these events.

Ms Taylor was one of 120 athletes who travelled from Australia to participate in the Tournament.

Of the 120 Australians only 8 athletes were from South Australia attended. The Tournament was held in Hamilton, New Zealand from 25 – 27 November 2016.

The results of the Tournament were not known by Enlightened’s Deadline.

“I hope that I will make more friends in New Zealand during this games,” she said.
