SA Labor Leader, Mr Peter Malinauskas will be visiting the Light Electorate this Sunday afternoon as part of his “Labor Listens” tour of all 47 electorates around the state.
Upon his election as leader, Mr Malinauskas committed to listening to South Australians about their needs and priorities.
Mr Malinauskas will be visiting two shopping centres in the Light Electorate and invites any local person who has any issue they would like addressed or an opinion they wish to express, to meet and speak with him at one of the two shopping centres closest to them.
Every South Australian will have the opportunity to have their say through these Labor Listening events, social media or the Labor Party’s website.
Mr Malinaauskas said he wanted to hear directly from South Australians about their priorities.
“The reality is Labor lost the state election, and that means there are lessons to be learnt,” said Mr Malinauskas.
Local Member of Parliament, Mr Tony Piccolo will join Mr Malinauskas at the two shopping centre “listening” events.
Mr Piccolo said the listening events is not about telling people what is good for them, or what is not possible.
“Peter just wants to listen to the concerns of ordinary people in our community,” Mr Piccolo said.
Mr Malinauskas said he wants to hear from people of all different backgrounds- in safe seats and Marginal seats, in the suburbs and the regions, lifelong Labor voters and those who have never voted for Labor.
“Nobody wants to be in opposition, but opposition does present Labor woth an opportunity to reach out to the community, listen to them and formulate policy priorities,” he said.
The first event will be held from 12 Noon till 1:00 pm at the Enchanted Café at the Playford Town Centre, Peachey Road, Munno Para while the second will be held from 1:15 pm till 2:15 pm just outside the Coles superMarket in the Northern Market Shopping Centre in Cowan Street, Gawler.
