Adult Learners’ Week is celebrated each year at the beginning of Spring from 1 – 8 September, to promote the benefits of learning.
Member for Light Tony Piccolo, is running a series of promotions during the Week, highlighting the diverse learning opportunities available in Gawler.
“There are so many opportunities for anyone of any age to embark on a learning journey in and around Gawler” said Mr Piccolo.
The promotion showcase a number of organisations that offer training programs from helping you to become ‘work ready’ through to learning to play the ukulele.
“Gawler is very fortunate to have some wonderful learning facilities, such as the Gawler Community House, Enterprise House and the Hewett Centre.
“You can learn how to write your own Life Story on Monday at the Gawler Sport and Community Centre, join a book club discussion on Tuesday at Leon’s Café at the Hewett Centre learn ballroom dancing on a Thursday and attend computer classes on Friday at the Gawler Community House” he said.
Interworks and Gawler TAFE both run SEE programs (Skills for Education and Employment) designed to help improve your skills in English, reading, writing and numeracy and provide you with skills to find work.
The Australian Workplace Training centre specialise in quality compliance training for the community services and road transport sectors in facilities designed to simulate the workplace environment.
“Adult Learners Week is an opportunity for anyone who is thinking of taking up a new hobby or learning new skills, to get out there and enrol.
