NEW WEBSITE SERVES THE COMMUNITY BETTER SAYS LOCAL MP
Local Member of Parliament, Mr Tony Piccolo has launched his revamped website to improve his ability to engage with the community.
Mr Piccolo said that the increasing use of various types of social media meant that people were informing themselves through different media.
“If I am going to engage with as many people as possible and in particular, younger people, I have to use a variety of means of communication,” Mr Piccolo said.
“People are increasingly using different means to communicate, including Facebook, websites, twitter and the like, so if I am going to stay in touch with them, I have to use new and evolving forms of communication.”
Mr Piccolo said the new website gives the community more opportunities to contact him and access the services he provides. “The new blog facility will enable the community to regularly obtain news and views about issues that affect the electorate.”
“ While our newspaper, Enlightened has been a very effective way of keeping the community informed, it is only published quarterly, and residents want news in a timely fashion.” “I will continue to publish Enlightened, but complement it with other forms of media.”
“The blog will be updated on a regular basis giving the community more timely access to news and important information about the electorate. My new weekly electronic newsletter will alert the community to new stories and information that affects our community.”
Members of the community can register to receive the weekly newsletter by going to http://www.tonypiccolo.org/tonys-blog and providing their name and email address.
The new website also enables participants in events hosted by Mr Piccolo to register online, which means people are not restricted to only interacting with office during standard business hours. Mr Piccolo said he welcomed feedback about his new website from the community and any ideas of how it could be improved.
“The site is a community facility so I will be happy to promote community events and activities on the site,” Mr Piccolo stressed.
