If you are a parent looking to return to the workforce, then the recent launch of the ParentsNext program will be of great interest to you.

The ParentsNext program is designed to help parents set and achieve personal goals for education and employment, so that you can successfully enter or re-enter the workforce by the time your children start school, or earlier if you are keen to do so.

The ParentsNext providers include PeoplePlus, Uniting Care Wesleys Port Adelaide, yourtown (previously known as Boystown) and SYC. The launch was held on Tuesday 20 September, at the John McVeity Centre with many like-minded parents and organisations in attendance.

Business Manager for PeoplesPlus SA , Mr Vincent Sorgiovanni said the launch was vibrant and successful.

“Guest speakers included representatives from the Department of Employment, the Mayor of Playford, community services executives, staff and parents engaged in the program. “

The four providers will work collaboratively to create a supportive and nurturing environment to promote activity and engagement for parents to achieve their education and employment goals.

“The providers will continue to work together, share ideas and resources and work towards a common goal to support parents to fruition of their employment goals” he said.

Local Member of Parliament Tony Piccolo said he was very pleased to learn that the Playford area had been one of only 10 Local Government areas in Australia.

“Playford was originally selected for the Helping Young Parents and Supporting jobless Families trails in 2012 because of high unemployment, relatively low educational attainment and high numbers of people receiving income support payments” said Mr Piccolo.

If you are a parent of young children and are interested in finding out more about the program, you can call into their offices at 13 Elizabeth Way, Elizabeth (they co-share with ARA Jobs) or call them on 7480 5000.
