Do you have a latte on your mind? Feeling a little bitter? Keen to rise above the daily grind?

Well, come show your mug and espresso your support for our Special Olympics participants by kettling down with a nice cuppa joe!

This Sunday (October 1st), Cibo Gawler are going to celebrate International Coffee Day by donating a dollar from every cup of coffee sold to help our local participants to the Special Olympics.

Not only do you get a great cup of coffee, but you will likely be served by local Member of Parliament, Tony Piccolo and Gawler Mayor Karen Redman.

Both have volunteered to be “guest baristas” during the day.

Mr Piccolo said he volunteered to help on the day because the event supports two important causes; our local Special Olympic participants and raising awareness about sustainable coffee growing and promoting fair trade.

“Not only will I be serving customers, but more likely you will hear a number of bad dad jokes,” said Mr Piccolo.

“In addition to the donation being made by Cibo Gawler, there will be donation tins, a raffle and other fun events.”

“Come see what’s brewing, feel free to stir a bit, or just blend in.”

“A good coffee lifts you up, but helps you stay grounded!”

“And yeah, we’re going to milk these puns for all they are worth.”

“All proceeds will go to support the young people in our community who wish to attend the Special Olympics”

Mr Piccolo said while he will be helping between 10 am and 1 pm and Mayor Redman between 10 and 11 am, the event will run from 9 am till 5 pm.

Mr Piccolo said he was thinking about asking Senator Cory Bernardi to help with promoting the day because of his outstanding fund raising skills.
