A number of local sporting clubs attended an information session on Wednesday 14 September, to learn more about applying for grants for their clubs.
Peter Cornish and Less Whitehorn from the Office of Sport and Recreation provided advice and tips on how to prepare grant applications for the next round of the Active Club Grants Program, which closes on 10 October 2016.
They also provided information on the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program and the recently announced Female Facilities Program. Ten local sporting clubs were represented at the Information Session which was held at STARplex and co-ordinated by staff from Tony Piccolo’s Light Electorate Office.
Local Member of Parliament Tony Piccolo was pleased that many of the clubs were very keen to find out more information on the new Female Facilities Program. “This program is designed to support women’s sports at all levels by providing female friendly facilities.
“In 2016/17, $4 million is available through Round 1 of this program to build new and upgrade existing change facilities which will improve access and encourage female participation for both players and officials” Mr Piccolo said.
Sporting clubs are encouraged to find out more information at the Active Club web page at http://www.ors.sa.gov.au/funding/apply_for_funding/active_club_program.
