We've been talking a lot about volunteering recently, highlighting the massive contribution that volunteers make to our local community.
But one thing I've noticed is how so many volunteers work away quietly and anonymously, and many times even the people these dedicated volunteers are helping don't always know they are doing it for the love, not the money.
So at the Light Electorate office, we've been trying to think of a simple way to help shine a light on the good work volunteers do, and to help make people aware of the enormous numbers of volunteers who work every day to make our community a better place to live.
And we need your help!
We're holding a competition - we want a brand new, locally themed "Volunteers at Work" sign, and we want someone from the local community to design it.
A "Volunteers at Work" sign can be displayed at organisations that employ volunteers to let everyone know that the people who are helping them are donating their time and effort to serving their community. I mean, we could use the sign featured above, but it's a bit boring, and I think as a community we can do better.
So if you fancy your design skills, why not turn your hand to designing the Light Electorate's very own "Volunteers at Work" sign, and help us recognise the hard work our volunteers do every day.
All short listed entries will be displayed on my website for voting by the community, and the winning entry will receive a 64gb USB Drive to store their future design work on.
See below for details of entry and terms & conditions, and start designing - we can't wait to see your entries!
